Overview

Immigration Flights, or “Tickets”, allow you to take a character from one state to another.

  • Your headquarters must be lv 15
  • You CAN use tickets to fly to a state you already occupy
  • Tickets cost 500,000 alliance coins each, and must be purchased in the alliance shop
  • Tickets can be purchased in the cash mall under “Rare Items”
  • You must meet all the pre-requisites in order to fly, for example, you can’t fly during certain events
  • You must meet the requirements for the destination state, such as the age of your character or hq level
  • There is a 30 day cooldown after you fly, during which, you can’t fly to any other state

Obtaining Immigration Flight Tickets

[Edit: 4/19/24, Added images]

Immigration Flights (Tickets) can be purchased in the alliance shop using alliance coins.

Each ticket costs 500,000, and can be found in two places in the alliance shop:

  • Weekly Offers (usually there is 1 available)
  • Shop…Other.  If they are out of stock, ask R5 or one of the R4’s.

Alliance coins can be obtained via the following:

  • Donate to alliance tech (20 donations per day)
  • Help other players (50 helps per day, 1000 coins each = 50k per day)
  • Certain events, such as Dead Rising and Reservoir War

If you are having trouble getting coins and finding tickets, ask around, especially in state chat.  Joining an active alliance is the best way to get coins and tickets.

If you can’t get in to a good alliance, start joining any open alliance until you find one where you can grab a ticket or donate to alliance tech to get coins.  If you need to, you can start your own alliance for 300 diamonds, but it will only last 2 resets unless you have 5 alliance members.

Tickets can also be purchased in the cash mall under “rare items”.

Pre-Requisites

In order to Immigrate to another state, you need to meet the following conditions:

Target State Immigration Requirements
  • Most states typically have a limit to the level of headquarters that is allowed to immigrate, based on the maximum sizes that already exist in that state.  In older states, this is usually 40, which is the highest HQ level.  In newer states, this can be as low as 26.
  • The state must be “open”.  Newer states are closed until approximately 6 weeks after they are created.  Closed states will indicate “closed” next to the state name when viewing the list of states.
  • Newer states have an age requirement requirement that must be met.  If your character (headquarters) is older than the age requirement, you will need to wait a specified number of days before you are allowed to immigrate.  For example, a character that is a year old might need to wait a few months if trying to fly to a state that just opened.  If you do not meet the age requirement, this will be noted at the bottom above the “immigrate” button.
Lv. 15 Headquarters Get your headquarters building promoted to level 15.  Do not go above level 20, as this costs more immigration flight tickets
March Queues must be idle
  • If you are out gathering, or you have a camp, you must recall your troops
  • If you are reinforcing an alliance building or another sanctuary, you must recall your troops
  • If you are part of a rally, the rally must complete or be cancelled
Quit the alliance Don’t do this until you are ready to fly.

Go to Alliance…operations (at the bottom) and click “Quit Alliance” at the top.

Resources within Warehouse limits If you have food, wood, steel, or gas in amounts that exceed your warehouse limit, you may not be able to fly, or these may be taken away when you fly.

To view your limits, click on your warehouse, then on storage details.  If you have “unprotected resources” above 0, you will need to use or transport them.

Immigration Cooldown If you immigrate, you can’t immigrate again for 30 days.  This is known as “immigration cooldown”.  The number of days remaining in the cooldown period will be indicated at the bottom, above the “Immigrate” button.
Can’t be in possession of Superweapons If you have a superweapon, you must hand it off to another player before being allowed to fly.
No bids in Auction House If you have bid on an item in the auction house, you must wait until that item is sold.
Can’t fly during certain events
  • Can’t fly at all during Wasteland King, nor Valiant Conquest.  These usually occur starting 10 hours after reset on Friday, and last 24 hours.
  • Can’t fly if you are signed up for Apex.  You will need to be eliminated, or wait for Apex to end.

Additional Considerations:

  • Once you fly to a new state, you can’t fly again for 30 days.  This means that you are effectively stuck there for a while, so be sure you know where you are going and why you are going there.
  • You might be required to apply for immigration in certain situations – for example, if your headquarters exceeds the immigration limit.  You can apply for immigration by clicking on the Zenith Tech Hub in the destination state.
  • Most states have a council, and state affairs are conducted on discord.  If you are moving a large character or an entire alliance, start an alt within the state and see if you can get in touch with the council.  Figure out how NAP works, and make sure that the state leadership approve of what you are trying to accomplish.
  • If you plan to move around a lot, keep your headquarters at level 20 or below, since this only requires one ticket.  Some people keep their farm at 20 for this reason, and then send their farm in advance when they move to a new state.  This allows you to see state chat, and maybe visit alliances before you bring your main character.

Instructions

First, check to make sure you are flight-ready:

  1. Go to bag…other. You should see at least one immigration flight (airplane symbol).
  2. Click “use”. This will bring up a list of states.
  3. Find the range for your destination state, such as “S211-S220”. Click on it. Find your destination state, and click on it.
  4. CHECK ALL OF THE PRE REQUISITES. Everything should be green except “quit alliance”, which should have a red “x”.
  5. At the bottom, look for Current HQ level, and make sure you have enough tickets.

When you are ready to fly:

  1. If you are meeting someone, contact them so that they can let you in to an alliance or give you coordinates
  2. Go to alliance… operations (at the bottom) then quit alliance (at the top)
  3. Go to your bag, other, immigration flight, “USE”
  4. Go to the range for your destination state, and click on it.  Then click on the destination state.
  5. VERY IMPORTANT:  Make sure you have the correct state!
    Click the “Immigrate” button
    Are you sure?
Wait for the countdown (10 seconds) then click continue
  6. When you land in your destination state, click alliance, then join alliance.  Use the search function at the top if you wish to join a specific alliance.
  7. Don’t forget to relocate near your new alliance.

Make sure you know what state you are going to!  I have heard stories of people going to the wrong state because they got the numbers mixed up, like 516 instead of 561.  In the best case, you will be stuck in the wrong state for 30 days.  In the worst case, you may be stranded there without a way to get tickets.

Starter Relocate

When you create a new character, you get what’s called a “Starter Relocate”.  This allows you to move to any location in any state, once.

Update, 11/28/23:  Here is an expanded set of instructions for using the Starter Relocate:
https://www.zombiebbq.biz/Zombie-BBQ/how-to-use-a-starter-relocate-to-fly-to-another-state/

  • If you join an alliance, it will automatically use your starter relocate to move near the alliance fort.  If you plan to move a new character, do not join an alliance.
  • You can’t move a new character to a state that you already occupy.  The only way to do that is to get your headquarters up to lv 15 and buy an immigration flight.
  • Your starter relocate will disappear from your bag after 6 days, or when you reach HQ level 6

To use your starter relocate to move to another state:

  1. Beat story chapter 2 so that you can view the map
  2. Click the coordinates, and enter the state number where you want to land
  3. In the destination state, click on the exact spot where you want to land
  4. Click the relocate button
  5. Wait for the immigration countdown (10 seconds), then click “Immigrate”

Sanity Check

There are many reasons to fly from one state to another, and some reasons are better than others.  Because of the cooldown restriction, leaving a state is a major step.  It’s worth considering if you are flying for the right reason.

Reason for Flying Considerations
Start a Farm One of the best reasons to fly to another state is to start a farm.  The concept behind a farm is that you have up to 5 more marches that you can use to gather resources, and then “feed” your main character.  As your headquarters grows past level 25, having a farm is one of the best ways to get the ever-increasing amount of resources that you will need in order to grow.  Above level 30, you should consider having up to 4 farms.

To start a farm, start a new character (Settings…Manage Char., then hit the Plus sign at the bottom).  Get that character up to level 15, then fly to the same state with your main character.

Avoid Politics and Drama Unfortunately, this game tends to attract petty, shallow people to positions of power.  I have seen entire states go from peaceful and fun, to hell on earth due to simple leadership changes.

If you happen to be in an alliance that is disliked by state leadership, things can become untenable. If this happens, you, and possibly your entire alliance, might need to find a new home.

Avoid Bullying / Harassment Sexual harassment should never be tolerated.  This is something that is clearly against the Puzzles and Survival terms of service, along with other types of threatening or aggressive behavior.  Before you feel like things get to the point where you need to leave the state to avoid an abuser, try working with Customer Service first.

Unfortunately, because Puzzles and Survival is pay-to-win, some people spend a lot of money in the game, and then feel entitled to bully other players.  Getting your sanctuary hit repeatedly, and constantly having to rebuild takes the fun out of the game.

In this situation, you have three options:

  • Become a bigger bully
  • Align yourself with stronger players who are willing to protect you
  • Leave and start fresh somewhere else
Start Fresh If the game has gotten boring, going to a new state can be a great way to make it exciting again.  Finding a fun, active alliance can be tricky, but going to a state where you already have some friends makes it a lot easier.

Instead of flying, starting an alt (alternate character) in another state can be a another good option, with the caveat that you have to start completely over.  In fact, starting a new character can be fun and challenging in itself.

Battle Division Chat is a great way to meet alliances from other states – this is a third chat tab that’s available during Wasteland King, Valiant, and Reservoir War / Alliance Clash.

Travel and Explore Traveling to new states is a great way to meet people.  Consider having an alt that you send to new states before you send your main character there.  It’s cheaper to fly a smaller account, and will help you avoid getting stuck in a bad state.

Items You Keep / Lose When You Fly

[Added: 12/3/2023]

Generally, anything in your bag, you keep.  However, there are some things that might be questionable such as Joy coins or event-specific items.

I flew a character on 12/1 in order to verify / validate.

Items You Keep (Basic Items)

  • Speedups
  • Military Items (Shields / Boosts)
  • Relocates (Direct and Random)

    • Rare Variant
    • Tape Fragment
    • Etc…
  • Arena Tokens – Originally, I thought these WERE taken when you fly, but either the game mechanics changed, or I was incorrect.  I added this in early January, 2024 and then checked again late January, 2024.

Items you Lose

  • Resources above warehouse limit will be stripped
  • Doomfest coins will be taken
  • Event items that do NOT appear in your bag will be taken

Other Notes

  • If you enter a pit before you fly, you remain in that pit from the old state even after you fly.  In the new state, once you re-enter the pits, you enter a pit from the new state.  (Added:  4/19/24)

Other Tips

Start a Farm Before You Fly

If you know you are going to fly to a new state, probably the biggest favor you can do for yourself is to start a farm before you fly.  Since you can’t have two characters on one account in the same state without using immigration flights, you avoid the hassle of getting your farm up to HQ 15 and then finding an alliance where you can earn coins and buy a ticket.  Instead, you start a farm in your new home state and then fly your main to it.

Buy TWO Sets of Immigration Flight Tickets BEFORE You Leave

To avoid ending up stuck in a state where you can’t join an active alliance, always start with two sets of tickets.  I was once stuck for 2 months in a dead state, trying to save up coins and then find a ticket.  Like me, you could find yourself going from dead alliance to dead alliance trying to find one where the tech tree isn’t locked because no one is around to do the research, and where no one is around to generate any helps.

Always be “Flight Ready”

As soon as you land in a new state, start buying more tickets if you need them.  Other than the cooldown, which can’t be avoided, being “flight ready” at all times means that you can leave if things get bad.
